Treeboy & Arc – Red
Leeds post-punk band Treeboy & Arc have announced their second album Goose, dropping April 10 via Clue Records. Lead single “Red” signals a clear departure from their 2023 debut Natural Habitat—instead of nervous guitar energy, the track is built on bouncy electronic sequences and deliberate restraint.
The songwriting favours repetition and concise hooks over complexity. Vocals stay cool and distant, almost mantra-like, circling themes of mental strain, displacement, and internal collapse. The lyrics examine suffering and dismay through repeated phrases that build hypnotic tension, matching the song’s stripped-down electronic pulse.
The shift reflects the band’s new influences from electronic and industrial artists, letting robust sequences take centre stage. Guitar parts now feel considered rather than impatient, each element playing with clear intention. The accompanying video matches the sonic shift—high-contrast images, urban emptiness, and latent tension create a visual extension of the song’s minimalist aesthetic.
Following their acclaimed debut, Goose sees Treeboy & Arc focusing on simplicity both lyrically and sonically, trading chaotic energy for precision and directness. The ten-track album finds the band refining their approach while maintaining the underlying intensity that defines their work.
